Every PanelAlpha update grows out of a mix of priorities: some features are the result of repeated customer demand, some come from addressing edge cases discovered in production, and some appear through an opportunity to connect the platform with a new technology that extends what hosting providers can offer their customers.
Version 1.8.5 combines all three, but one addition clearly defines the direction of this release: the new integration with 10Web.
AI website generator on your own infrastructure
At the heart of this release is 10Web integration, the AI-powered WordPress platform known for its automated website generation capabilities. More specifically, it allows hosting providers using PanelAlpha to deliver the Agentic Website Builder experience shaped by 10Web, but fully embedded into their own hosting environment.
The idea behind the integration is straightforward: instead of sending customers away to external builders or disconnected AI services, hosting providers can now let users generate AI-assisted WordPress websites directly through PanelAlpha’s onboarding flows, while the infrastructure itself remains entirely under the provider’s control.
Once configured, the integration unlocks two distinct automation paths:
- The first is built directly into Super Quick Onboarding, PanelAlpha’s accelerated provisioning flow. Hosting providers can now include 10Web as part of the onboarding process, allowing WordPress instances to be automatically provisioned and passed into 10Web for AI-assisted setup immediately after deployment. The entire process happens without requiring any manual intervention between account creation and website generation.
For providers handling high onboarding volumes, this significantly reduces operational friction while also creating a much faster path from signup to live website.
- The second flow follows a model similar to the existing Extendify integration, but adapted for AI-generated website creation. By passing a site description through the URL, PanelAlpha can automatically create the customer account, provision the hosting environment, deploy WordPress, and hand the instance off to 10Web using the provided context.
In practice, this opens the door to fully automated AI website funnels running directly on the provider’s own infrastructure. A visitor submits a short prompt describing the website they want, and the entire backend process – account creation, hosting provisioning, WordPress deployment, and AI-assisted site generation – happens automatically in the background.
A smoother main domain change flow
This next new feature has been high on the wishlist for many users over recent months. Version 1.8.5 empowers both providers and customers to change the primary domain of a hosting account directly through PanelAlpha, without needing to manually intervene through the underlying hosting control panel.
The new flow has gone through extensive testing across the hosting environments that power the majority of production deployments: cPanel, DirectAdmin, Plesk, and PanelAlpha Engine. Each integration has been refined to ensure that domain changes propagate cleanly and behave exactly as expected during real-world usage.
IMPORTANT NOTE
This workflow does not extend to WP Cloud, as those environments follow a separate domain management architecture.
The backup system rebuild continues
The backup-related changes included in this release are part of a broader transformation that originally started in PanelAlpha v1.8.0, where the backup engine began a major architectural rebuild focused on improving reliability, scalability, and independence from hosting server limitations.
This release supports that process with another series of substantial improvements aimed at making backup operations more resilient under real-world hosting conditions.
- The remote backup mechanism has received further refinements, including fully reliable progress tracking throughout the upload process. Webhook support has also been added, allowing providers to receive real-time notifications and build automation or monitoring workflows around the backup lifecycle.
- One particularly important addition is the new fallback mechanism. If the rebuilt backup process encounters an issue in a specific environment, PanelAlpha can automatically revert to the previous backup method. This creates a gradual transition path toward the new architecture instead of forcing providers into a hard cutover.
- Automatic backup handling has also been improved in several areas. Earlier versions could occasionally encounter interruptions during large transfer operations, leaving backups incomplete or incorrectly flagged as failed. Those edge cases have now been addressed.
- Additionally, automatic backups are now processed sequentially rather than simultaneously. By queuing operations one behind another instead of running multiple heavy backup jobs in parallel, the system eliminates an entire category of conflicts that previously caused instability in certain hosting environments.
The overall direction remains consistent with the architectural work introduced in v1.8.0: handling large-scale backup operations in a way that is faster, more stable, more robust under load, and increasingly independent from differences between hosting server environments.
The direction behind this release
PanelAlpha v1.8.5 is a release that covers real ground across three distinct areas. The 10Web integration expands the platform’s automation story in a direction that many hosting providers have been waiting for. The main domain change capability closes a gap that generated more support tickets than almost any other operational limitation. And the continued evolution of the backup engine addresses deep infrastructure work that, once done, makes everything else run better.
