While PanelAlpha Single Server keeps gaining ground in the WordPress community, we’re by no means slowing down on the Multi Server edition, which has just received a fresh update to version 1.8.0.

This release is largely shaped by real customer cases and the kind of issues that tend to surface in day-to-day usage rather than in lab conditions. The biggest change is a completely reworked backend for backup creation, designed to make backups faster, more stable, and far less dependent on the hosting server itself. This release also picks up a broader set of requests around WP Cloud, Extendify, and the PanelAlpha Engine.

A new backup backend

Backups are one of the most important parts of any hosting platform, but also one of the easiest places for complexity to build up. In previous workflows, some operations could be too dependent on the hosting environment or affected by surrounding edge cases. That is why PanelAlpha v1.8.0 introduces a fully rebuilt backup backend.

New Backups Backend - PanelAlpha v1.8.0

The goal was simple: make backup creation faster, more stable, and more resilient in real hosting conditions. In practice, this means a more reliable flow, better behavior across different scenarios, and fewer situations where the state of the hosting server can interfere with the result.

Just as importantly, this rework allowed us to clean up many related issues that were touching the backup process from different angles. Some were directly tied to creating backups, while others appeared around operations connected to them. With the new implementation, this whole area becomes much more consistent and easier to trust.

Extendify gets a stronger automation path

Another meaningful addition in the 1.8.0 release is a new Extendify-related capability, allowing you to use Background Billing together with Extendify’s new website creation flow in a much more automated way. In practice, hosting companies and agencies will be able to collect a prompt and an email address from a landing page or onboarding flow, pass that into PanelAlpha, and let the platform handle the rest in the background.

That means provisioning the environment, launching the website creation process with the prompt, and managing the backend workflow automatically. For companies that want to offer AI-assisted website creation as part of their hosting flow, this creates a much cleaner path from a prompt to the live site.

Cron Jobs for WP Cloud

PanelAlpha v1.8.0 also adds cron jobs support for the WP Cloud integration, making setups more complete and much more useful in real production workflows. This was a recurring request among teams running WordPress environments that rely on scheduled tasks, background jobs, imports, cleanups, sync operations, or other recurring automation.

Engine improvements for OpenLiteSpeed

PanelAlpha Engine front hasn’t been entirely quiet either, as this update includes one very useful fix: automatic .htaccess reload for OpenLiteSpeed. Unlike commercial LiteSpeed, OpenLiteSpeed does not handle this in the same built-in way, which may have caused trouble for some users after ‘.htaccess’ changes. We have now added support for that on the Engine side, so those changes can be picked up more smoothly in OpenLiteSpeed-based environments.

Beyond that, this release also includes a few smaller Engine stability improvements focused on more predictable day-to-day behavior.

Real customer needs always come first

PanelAlpha v1.8.0 is above all a practical release, strengthening the platform in all the areas where users expect it most: backups, automation, infrastructure behavior, and smoother backend operations. And while the new backup backend is the centerpiece, the range of supporting improvements matter as well. From the new Extendify automation possibilities to cron jobs for WP Cloud, these changes make PanelAlpha much more reliable in the background, and that is often where the most valuable platform updates really happen.
